    AUGUST 24/25 2019 - CORRYVRECKAN - OVERNIGHT CAMPING
    (This post 21/08/2019)

Given the current forecast, you need to know:

    (1) If Sunday's weather forecast ends up similar to Saturday's forecast, I'll cancel the journey

    (2) SATURDAY:
    • You will be paddling into winds at the top end of F3 probably gusting F4 for most of the journey down to the Corryvreckan.
    • You will be paddling Wind - AGAINST - Tide.
    (3) Sunday:
    • You will need to be on the water ready to paddle 0600hrs/6:00AM
    Also

If, at this point, you do not know how long it will take you to pack your boat, Saturday..... give it a miss guys or...... arrive very, very early!

    Because :

If you are not on the water at Ellabeich Harbour, car parked, ready to paddle at 1130hrs / 11:30am.... You will be left behind Sorry.

As it t turns out.... all that Time and Tide stuff you may have thought was just a bunch of nautical nonsense...... IT ISN'T!

    Schedule

    Sat:
We already know what time we have to be on the water at Ellenabich Harbour. From there we will agree our route and get going.

Sun: Corryvreckan - The west-going stream begins: +0430 Oban (-0100 Dover) at springs & +0515 Oban (-0015 Dover) at neaps
or (depending upon which book you read)
The flood tide runs westwards, beginning about +0430 Oban (-0100 Dover) at springs; +0515 Oban (-0015 Dover) at neaps
    • So we need to be on the water ready to paddle 0600hrs/6:00am latest.
    • Sundays winds are not forecast to blow above 8mph / the bottom of F3.
    • Prior to 1300hrs/1:00pm the wind strength is forecast to be no greater than F2.

Any questions post them below. I'll keep an eye on the weather and confirm or cancel the journey Friday morning.
